Chinchao

This is a rare Chinese-Filipino dessert that appeared in an 1847 book. Our team worked with historians to identify the ingredients from this dessert, and we’d revived this dish at our first Binondo pop-up.

In the historical document, chinchao vendors would travel by foot selling this refreshing street food. We use mandarin orange in place of lychee for the occasion of Chinese New Year, wherein eating round fruits is meant to bring good luck.

Ingredients: rice noodle, chia seeds, black tea syrup, mandarin orange, ampao
